Post Falls Idaho History & Facts

Post Falls is a city in Kootenai County, Idaho, between Coeur d'Alene and Spokane, Washington. It is a suburb of Coeur d'Alene, to the east, and a bedroom community to Spokane, to the west. The population was 27,574 at the time of the 2010 census, up from 17,247 in the 2000 census, making it Idaho's tenth-largest city. The U.S. Census Bureau estimated 2019 population is 36,250.

Post Falls is named after Frederick Post, a German immigrant who constructed a lumber mill along the Spokane River in 1871 on land he purchased from Andrew Seltice, Chief of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. The purchase of the land is preserved in a pictograph on a granite cliff in Treaty Rock Park.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.11 square miles (36.54 km2), of which 14.07 square miles (36.44 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) is water.

Post Falls is located on the Rathdrum Prairie, along the Washington–Idaho border. It is bounded by Coeur d’Alene to the east, Stateline and the state of Washington to the west, and the Spokane River to the south. Post Falls is 20 miles (32 km) east of Spokane and approximately 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. The elevation of the city is 2,182 feet (665 m) above sea level.

Jeremy Gable

Jeremy Joseph Gable (born May 10, 1982) is a British-born American playwright and game designer living in Philadelphia. Gable was born in Lakenheath, Suffolk, England. He grew up in Post Falls, Idaho, then moved to Barstow, California after graduation.

In July 2006, Gable wrote and produced Giant Green Lizard! The Musical, a musical parody of the Japanese monster movies from the 1950s, for the Maverick Theater Company in Fullerton, California. The show received a positive notice in the entertainment trade BackStage West, particularly noting its "inventive score" and "off-kilter sensibility".

Gable served as Artistic Director of the Hunger Artists Theatre Company from December 2006 to April 2009 where he directed the Orange County premieres of Sarah Kane's 4.48 Psychosis and Bryony Lavery's Frozen, as well as writing the Flying Spaghetti Monster plays, which were covered by the official Flying Spaghetti Monster website. He also wrote American Way, which made its premiere at Los Angeles' Blank Theatre, - and 140: A Twitter Performance, the first documented full-length fully original Twitter play. He was named "one of Orange County's most genuinely innovative theatrical minds" by OC Weekly and called "one of O.C.'s more fertile theatrical minds" by the Orange County Register.
